The Dream
The client envisioned a landscape that brought the surrounding Pocono Mountains into harmony with their home, an immersive, natural environment that felt serene and inviting. From the beginning, the goal was to embrace the challenging terrain and make the outdoors feel like a tranquil, walkable retreat.
The Plan
With a dramatic 22-foot elevation drop from the road to the home, Atlantic RIDGE crafted a design that respected the property’s complexity while celebrating its potential. The team leaned into naturalistic design strategies: bouldering, layered tiers, and integrated water features, creating a seamless flow from entry to home. Every choice was made to ensure the landscape felt as if it had always been there.
The Details
From dramatic elevation shifts to artfully layered water features, every element of this project was designed to work with the land, not against it. The result is a space that feels both grounded and graceful.
22-foot elevation change from road to home
Extensive boulder work for structural stability and aesthetic integration
10-foot-long bluestone bridge anchoring the front entry
Dual water features:
Pond on one side
Rock waterfalls on the other
Independent systems designed to appear as a single, unified feature
Landscaping layered across elevation tiers for natural flow and balance
The Hurdles
The steep elevation alone presented challenges in stabilization, grading, and erosion control. Integrating two completely independent water systems while preserving a natural appearance added another layer of complexity. Attention to detail, including careful shot selection during video production to hide oil spots in the driveway, was part of showcasing the finished work with the respect it deserved.
The Reveal
Cherry Valley Point stands as a striking example of what’s possible when bold vision meets expert execution. The transformation balanced technical precision with artistic sensitivity, resulting in a space that feels immersive, elegant, and entirely at home in its environment. The final design evokes both drama and serenity, true to the landscape and the people who live there.
